travel mexico baja california sur cabo san lucas

Our family traveled to Cabo for spring break in 1996 along with the Wilson, Clow, and Pankey families. The weather, food and beaches were great.
I had the distinct feeling that I was seeing the last of a disappearing culture that was becoming over-run by tourism.
Lynn and I revisited Cabo during spring break in 2017 and, as I suspected, it could hardly be recognized.
It has beautiful new hotels and condos along the beaches and scattered over the surrounding hills.
There is a huge new marina area full boats of all sizes and surrounded by a waterfront walk full of shops and restaurants.
The "locals" looked much more prosperous... but we did not see too many tourists venturing beyond the marina into the "old" town shops and restaurants where we had spent most of our time on the first trip.
